About us

Worcester Rambling Club is a friendly independent group of walkers, established in 1946. We welcome new members whether or not they are experienced walkers.

Why not try one or two of our walks for free and then if you want to join us, there is a small annual subscription, renewable every October.

Newcomers are advised to make enquiries as to the nature of the walk before setting out for the first time. Email worcesterramblingclub@hotmail.co.uk or contact our secretary on 01905 764538

Members receive six Newsletters per year. Walks and other events are listed in there and on our website

Sunday walks

We arrange walks on most Sundays. We share transport and travel together to the start of the walk so it does not matter if you do not have your own car. We assemble at Carden Street in Worcester (by Seats and Sofas off City Walls Road), with or without a car about 15 minutes before the advertised start time. We try to find seats in cars for everyone although this cannot be guaranteed.

Sunday walks are generally 7-10 miles in length and vary from local strolls to more challenging ones in Shropshire, the Welsh Borders and the Cotswolds.

Once a year we usually have a coach trip. Booking is essential and cancellation charges may apply if you do not turn up.

Wednesday walks

We also do shorter walks on Wednesdays at least once a month, finishing with an optional lunch in a local pub. We meet at the pub car park for these rather than Carden Street. Lifts can be arranged if you do not have transport.

Social Events

The programme includes several social events, from the Awards Lunch in January to a Skittles evening or a Quiz

Further information

Members are advised to carry food and drink on full day rambles.

Also, waterproofs and boots or other substantial footwear are usually needed.

Walks are led by members of the Club who ‘pioneer’ the route beforehand to make sure there are no hazards or blocked paths. We encourage new members to lead walks but there is no obligation to do so.

People taking part in walks do so entirely at their own risk, although the Club has Civil Liability Insurance. Members are responsible for their own personal accident               insurance and are advised to carry their own First Aid Kit.

We regret that dogs are not allowed on our walks.
